Joy Farenden has been a Real Estate Sales Consultant for over 30 years, starting her career marketing and selling homes in the wonderful sailing community of Marblehead, just north of Boston. Joy relocated to the Palm Springs area in 2006 where she sold many homes throughout the Valley. Joy has now moved to the fun and active community of The Villages in Florida and has started to work with ReMax Premier Realty.  She is also the Membership Director of the Brits&US Club in The Villages.

Joy has traveled extensively to many exotic locales throughout the world, loves to travel and understands that life in The Villages is something special.   Born and raised in England, Joy’s independent spirit compelled her to leave home for diverse experiences abroad.  She traveled to New York, where she began a twenty two year career with Pan American World Airways.  Her time with Pan Am took Joy to distant shores from Tahiti to New Zealand, Vietnam to the Caribbean and the Middle East to Russia.  Joy’s friendships and associations she made during her travels are still a source of pleasure including the attending the wonderful luncheons for retired former Pan Am employees in The Villages.

 I understand you are Joy Farenden’s manager so I wanted to take the opportunity on behalf of myself and Nanette and Jeff Kufeldt to tell you what a simply amazing job she did for us recently.

 As you well know, COVID has made nothing easier.   We had been planning to sell our Palm Desert property for some time, but the onslaught of COVID sped up that timeline and affected the sale in ways we could not have imagined.    In March of this year, we suddenly found ourselves with a furnished house in Palm Desert that we could not visit (because the border with Canada was closed) and that required a bit of work before it could even be listed.   From start to finish, Joy walked us through the entire process going above and beyond at every conceivable opportunity.  This deal required so much extra work from her mostly because we could not be physically present in Palm Desert to do it ourselves and because the individual who made the first serious offer on the property was “challenging” to say the least.

My name is Tanya and I moved to Palm Desert in January. When I started my search from Seattle, Wa., I found Joy on line when I was seeking out a realtor. We discussed my needs and desires for my home over the phone, and the next day, she had me set up on a daily list of homes meeting my criteria for me to review. I could let her know what I liked, or didn’t like, and we soon narrowed it down to a list of homes I wanted to see in person. This was during the holiday season, and Joy was leaving to go see her family. Due to my timing, I needed to come down when she was not here, so she set me up with her associate and he assisted me during my search. We are from New York City and own a timeshare in Palm Desert. In considering the Palm Springs area, we hadn't decided as to whether we should split our time between the East coast and Palm Springs or move permanently to PS.

We met Joy as we began to explore property on line. She contacted us, and we corresponded over the next three months, mostly by email as Joy sent links to available property. We reviewed and commented on what we liked or didn't, identified styles of houses, locations, and what we wanted in a community/neighborhood. We found a number of houses we ranked as ones we wanted to see, and scheduled three days in mid-June to look at ten to twelve houses over three days.

Joy was awesome. She is knowledgeable, personable, professional, patient, a great listener and fun! Although exhausting to look at houses in 116 degree heat, she arranged our time and we saw all the houses, identified and discussed pros/cons (location, value, construction and price).
