INSURANCE INFORMATION FILING CLAIMS & LISTING YOUR HOMEHurricanes Ian & Nicole - Assistance with Claims What to do After a Loss*If you need to file a claim, please remember that contractors using "Assignment of Benefits" clauses in their contracts should not be trusted. These companies are literally and legally stripping you of your rights as a homeowner and a policyholder if you sign an Assignment of Benefits. They disallow you from participating with the claims adjuster and your repairs. Unfortunately, scams are also rampant after storms . If you have damage and need immediate assistance, we urge you to call a reputable disaster mitigation service. Taking these steps following a loss will protect your home and expedite the claims process. Report your claim immediately by calling your insurance Carrier. Protect your property against further damage. If you need assistance locating a vendor to assist with tarping your roof or drying out wet property, please contact your insurance carrier. Make temporary repairs and keep receipts for any repairs that you do make. Prepare a list of damaged property. Take pictures and/or video of the damage, including any damage to contents, prior to making any repairs. Protect yourself and your family. If you must move out of your home, keep all receipts for any temporary lodging and any other expenses you incur while out of your home.
